WHY DID I BECOME A PERSONAL TRAINER?
I was continually judged for becoming a personal trainer with the typical, “so what are you going to do with your career?” or “but that’s not really a career, and there’s no security in it, when will you get a real job?” so early on after id finished year 12, I opted to avoid personal training and pursue university as that’s what we all should do right?
When I was younger, I had always wished I had someone to improve my athletic performance. I played a lot of sport, and I would have loved to have someone there to guide and plan my health and fitness routine to optimise my performance! I’ve always enjoyed moving and being physically active! So naturally, a career in health and fitness was something I gravitated to but who was I to go against wiser minds and advice at a young age.
Long story short, I completed one degree and part of another and followed the traditional school, uni, blah blah but I still managed to complete a personal training certificate amongst my study and then ended up running my own business through my degree.
This is where I started to realise how important being a health coach can be. I was suddenly out of university and had no real inclination to pursue my teaching degree id just acquired.
All I wanted to do was help people with their health and fitness journeys, transform people’s bodies and be the professional they could rely on to improve their health and performance!
I love the gym, training and being physically active for many reasons but here are my top 3 – It makes me feel great, my mental health is always at its best when I’m active regularly. I enjoy challenges and having a clear path to achieving my goals. I like how I can control my health which is ultimately my most important asset (obviously looking good is also great but that’s not the greatest reason I train).
My partner and I recently had a little boy Archer, so for me not letting gym rule my life right now is okay. I am active, healthy, and still don’t have a dad bod and I’m way less strict as I usually would be and really enjoying it. Gym compliments my life always and my priorities change to suit what I want to prioritise.

I’ve been coaching now since 2012, so I finally hit a decade of helping people with their health and performance. Pretty cool really and I’m grateful I have been able to help so many people.

WHY DID I BECOME A PERSONAL TRAINER?
I found a love and passion for fitness once I hit my early early 20s and really wanted to incorporate personal training with my full time profession at the time. I studied part time and then ventured into personal training full time. From this point I wanted to specialised in training women only and also specialising in preparing women for competition preparation etc body building. This allowed me to prepare for a competition myself to no what it was all about and what it took to be a fitness model. From there this has led me to compete in 15 shows and become and professional athlete for the Wbff federation as a figure athlete.
